Steve Mostyn and his Houston firm Mostyn Law were recently recognized by Texas Lawyer as one of its Litigation Departments of the Year, an annual accolade that honors firms that have successfully litigated multiple cases and achieved other distinctions throughout the year.
Mostyn Law, the winner of this year’s Products Liability Litigations Department of the Year award, was singled out for winning key cases on behalf of the its clients while impressing fellow litigators for its recent successes going after medical device makers and the insurance industry.
Specifically, the firm’s new focus on transvaginal mesh litigation was recognized for “uncovering evidence that other law firms failed to identify.” Mostyn Law’s current case against Boston Scientific alleges the company sourced polypropylene resin used in its implants from an area in China known for manufacturing with counterfeit materials. Over 1,000 women allege they have experienced infections, severe discomfort, and other complications from plastic mesh implants.
One Mostyn client recently won a federal court order referring her allegations to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for consideration.
Texas Lawyer also singled out Steve Mostyn for his “braggadocio.”
“I don’t want to sound like Donald Trump, but we are the best of the best,” Mostyn tells Texas Lawer.
Other honorees in Texas Lawyer’s Litigation and Legal Departments of the Year include Baker Botts, Consentino North America, Haynes and Boone, and Norton Rose Fulbright.
